U.S. SENATOR FOR INDIANA
In late March, National Journal ranked Joe Donnelly as the most vulnerable Democrat in the U.S. Senate. He is considered especially vulnerable as the only statewide-elected Democrat in a state which Donald Trump won by nearly 20 points.
Republicans have already started targeting Donnelly. Political ads have hit television screens, from groups like the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the conservative Judicial Crisis Network, which has promised to spend upwards of $10 million leading up to the nomination.
In terms of presidential elections, Indiana has been primarily Republican throughout its history (since joining the Union in 1816), and today it’s the “reddest” state in the Midwest. It has only voted Democratic twice since 1940—in 1964 for Lyndon Johnson and in 2008 for Barack Obama. For the last two elections, Republicans have won by double-digits, with Donald Trump receiving about 57% of the votes.
We hope to protect Senator Donnelly's seat against the aggressive election to come, saving his seat in an overwhelmingly historic red state.
Joe Donnelly, Indiana’s senior senator, brings a pragmatic approach to the U.S. Senate, where he is working to solve problems impacting Hoosiers and all Americans. He campaigned for Senate in 2012 as someone who would work across party lines to get things done for Hoosiers.
True to his word, Joe has been consistently recognized as one of the most bipartisan Senators while getting things done for working- and middle-class families across Indiana. Joe has used his common sense approach to deliver results, including the promotion of local job creation, addressing the opioid epidemic, and supporting our servicemembers and veterans. Demonstrating his commitment to every Hoosier community, Joe has visited all of Indiana’s 92 counties every year since he was elected senator.
Joe is running for reelection in 2018 so he can continue working non-stop on behalf of Indiana families. He remains dedicated to bringing Hoosier common sense to Washington.
