LATEST SENATOR CASEY
Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released a statement following the recent action on China:
“I commend the Administration for opening this investigation. I encourage the Administration to follow through and carry out measures to confront China’s cheating on trade, and their policies which force companies to hand over their intellectual property. When China cheats on trade, Pennsylvania workers lose their jobs and our economy suffers. I would urge this Administration, as I have previous Administrations, to go further: name China a currency manipulator and further punish them for taking advantage of Pennsylvania workers. The Administration should also take quick and definitive action on behalf of our steel and aluminum producers. In addition to confronting China’s trade cheating, I urge the Administration to keep its promise on NAFTA. This is an opportunity to secure a better deal for our workers. A re-write of the failed Trans-Pacific Partnership is simply unacceptable.
Our trade agreements must work for middle class families and our workers, not just the super-rich and the big corporations. It’s time to take on the special interests that have pushed trade deals that undermine our workers.”
