LATEST SENATOR KING
NORWAY, ME – U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) today met with small business owners and community members in the Norway/South Paris region to underscore how supporting local businesses can grow the Maine economy. His visit came on Small Business Saturday, which falls on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and emphasizes the importance of supporting local small businesses, particularly during the holiday season.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. All across Maine, there are independently-owned businesses that create jobs for local people and foster growth and innovation in our communities,” Senator King said. “The local business owners I met with in Paris and Norway today characterize Maine’s entrepreneurial spirit, and -- by working to grow the economy -- demonstrate a dedication to friends and neighbors to make their communities more resilient. During this holiday season, let us reaffirm our commitment to buying local so we can support the Main Streets of our hometowns and help keep Maine a special place to work and live.”
